Biogas
UTIER has facilitated the licensing of a technology that was developed by professors at UC Davis that convert agricultural and food wastes into biogas energy and organic fertilizer products. The leadership of Qianwei Village on Chongming island has been very supportive of this program. Construction is currently underway on a biogas conversion facility and the biogas that is produced will be used to power generators that provide electricity to the village.
